Asaduddin Owaisi Opposed The Question Hour In Parliament, Said ‘Embarrassing’ – News

On the very first day of the monsoon session of Parliament in the Corona period, the opposition protested against the removal of the Question Hour. In the same sequence, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi rejected the proposal of the Center to abolish the Question Hour and the work of private members during the monsoon session of Parliament. Highlighting the importance of the Question Hour and the work of a private member, he mentioned that ‘they are a part of the principle of separation of powers and are essential for the survival of parliamentary democracy’.

Amidst opposition from Congress and many other opposition parties, the government during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the proposal for suspension of the Question Hour, and the work of private members were put in the Lok Sabha on Monday, which was approved by the lower house.

Opposition parties opposed the suspension of the question hour and accused the government of avoiding questions, which the government said was an extraordinary situation in which political parties should cooperate.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that this session is being held under exceptional circumstances and it was decided that the house will run for four hours. During this time, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs spoke to the leaders of various parties on the subject of question hour and non-official work.

He said, “I also spoke to the leaders of various parties and most of the parties had agreed on this. I want to request the members of all the parties that the session is going on in exceptional circumstances and you all need your support.”

The Defense Minister said that during the session, members can ask questions through unsubstantiated questions and can also ask for clarification in zero hours.
